It was a very busy, but productive weekend as Jonas and I got to catch up with some friends. On Friday evening, we headed out to dinner for a Chinese feast. Originally, we were supposed to go to Stella's on Commercial Drive, but the wait was over an hour and a half. It was nice to catch up with them, and we talked a lot about the possibility of going camping in the summer. Jonas and I have never been camping together. In fact, I have only been maybe once or twice. But now that we bought a table top portable barbecue, we seem quite intent on doing at least one camping trip sans baby, and then we would like to do camping trips regularly after the baby is born.
Then on Saturday, we spent the entire day at the Convention Center for the Eat! Vancouver food expo. That was a first for us, and it was quite interesting. The crowd was a bit overwhelming, but we indulged in some free food samples, as well as trying some local culinary delights. There were a couple of Food Network chefs there doing demos as well. We have pictures of Rob Feenie and Chuck Hughes that I will have to post later. It was quite a thrill for me as I am completely obsessed with the Food Network, and always looking for any way to improve on my culinary skills. A very fun date day indeed, and I must give all the credit to my hubby for coming up with this idea and buying the tickets for us.
On Sunday, we got together for a long overdue visit with Cara and Charlie for another Chinese meal. As always, it was wonderful to see them and I always think of what a great Aunt and Uncle they are going to be. It was a nice weekend, before Jonas finishes up his last 3 weeks of school. I can't believe it, 3 more weeks and he is officially DONE! It's going to be so exciting to start the next chapter in our lives together. But until then, I am a very tired girl this Monday morning and am in need of some much more needed sleep.
