I think Baby Ng is on a definite growth spurt this week, as I have considerable discomfort in my back and belly, and I felt the baby's first kicks! I think baby is trying to stretch out now, and is either kicking me, or punching me with their little fists.
Of all the places I first noticed it was during work Wednesday morning. I was listening in on a conference call when I first felt it. It was just a very gentle 'tap'. At first I didn't think much of it, thought it might be the baby moving (even though this is not normally how it feels when the baby moves, no quick flutters or anything). Then I felt it again, that little 'tap'. At this point, I was becoming more aware of it and starting to wonder, is the baby kicking me?? Then I felt it again, two more little 'taps'. I could barely contain myself, but meanwhile, trying to concentrate on my con call!
The next time I noticed it was lying in bed the next day at 6 am. Again, two little taps. But nothing again. Then last night, Jonas and I were watching tv in bed when I noticed the baby was moving quite considerably. It was very active around 9:00 pm. I had Jonas place his hands on my belly so he could feel the baby moving around too. Then I started to notice the tapping again, only more of them this time and it was almost like I was a little punching bag. I kept saying 'hello' to the baby, and it seemed like everytime I did, I would feel that tap! Jonas and I just looked at each other in amazement at the miracle of it.
Today is ultrasound day. We are very excited! But I am trying to mentally psyche myself up for the full bladder that I have to have, as I am already uncomfortable enough as it is! We have a wonderful weekend ahead of us, and the weather looks like it will actually cooperate. More updates later....

ReplyDeleteOh I remember the first baby kicks -- truly exciting and it really makes the whole thing feel "real" doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteAnd you wait, soon Baby Ng will be bending it like Beckham in there :)
Dear Wendy,
ReplyDeleteNice to catch up with you on Mother's Day. Beautiful tulips you both sent! As the Chinese saying goes, as fast as the blink of the eyes, baby will come and grow...s/he will be in play school and make you something for Mother's Day.
Happy Mother's Day to the mom to be...
Love,
Mom.
