The Week So Far

It's been a pretty uneventful week so far, which is why I have not written. I guess uneventful is not a bad thing? Last weekend, Jonas and I got to catch up with our dragon boat friends. It was long overdue, and it was absolutely wonderful to see them. They are prepping for some big races coming up (Alcan)in June, which we will be there to cheer them on.

Jonas and I have been having many meaningful conversations this week about what else.....our future! We are in talks about trying to decide where we want to live, do we want to stay where we are, are we better off to move, or are we better off to stay where we are and keep things consistent etc etc. So many things to think about and consider. I guess this is our life now, and once you become parents, you probably always tend to think about what is best for the family as opposed to what is best for you. Of course, I would not have it any other way, but all decisions to be made seem to take on a whole new meaning. At the end of the day, everything will work out. I always believe that. But I would be lying if I said that I did not have this unsettled feeling, which once we solve the decision of what to do with our living arrangement, I'm sure it will pass.

I am so looking forward to the May long weekend and resting! I find myself feeling fatigued again lately, although not nearly to the degree that I was in the first trimester. I think it could be a combination of things. 1.) I might be fighting off a bug that I caught from Linda and Jonas 2.) I've been ridiculously uncomfortable at night and unable to sleep. I have started using Jonas' foam pillow to prop my belly on and it does seem to work a little bit. Since I started using it, I am now able to get a few more hours of sleep in the night.

Aside from resting, we are going to go to Babies R Us and check out some strollers, and other items that we need to purchase. I have made a list of things that we need to get before the baby is born, and we want to start researching them now. I think we have decided on the kind of stroller that we want. We researched all different kinds and narrowed it down. Dad was so kind to send us a link to a Consumer Report and it got rave reviews, so now we just need to go buy it. Yay for long weekends! Is it Friday yet???

  1. Dear Wendy,
It is so natural when I want to compare your experience with mine. Jonas was a good baby inside and outside after he was born. I don't remembber not able to sleep, or any other uncomfortable symptoms. With Cara, the pregnancy didn't give me any hardship, but she was not as easy to take care of as Jonas.
I guess we were a bit more lucky than you both are as we were living in a house before Jonas was born. The price of our house was more affordable, as compared to Vancouver. I really don't know how young people can afford to buy a house in Vancouver.
Although we have bought baby some clothes, we are happy to give the parents-to-be a present. This weekend, go out and buy the stroller you have researched as the best one for baby and you both, we would like to pay for it.
    Love,
    Mom.

  2. I know deep down that you have nothing at all to worry about -- things work out, they just always do. You know I had the exact same worries as my due date grew closer but it all worked itself out. I just wish the "working out" part means that you move closer to us :)

  4. Sorry to delete my first comment -- I just wanted to fix a typo but there is no edit function!

Here is what I wrote originally (typo fixed):

Wendy, we totally went through the to-move-or-not-to-move dilemma...we considered moving in with my parents for a year, even. I think the hormones mean that these decisions weigh all the more heavily, too. Until we had finalized our decision to stay, I felt very anxious and unsettled. I sympathize with your dilemma. If you ever want to talk, we're just a phone call away. Love you -- can't wait to see your new wheels :).
