Celebrating the end of the first trimester

I am finally celebrating the end of my first trimester......wahoo! It's been quite a thrill so far, but I am VERY excited to finally begin my second trimester. They say that the second trimester is generally the most pleasurable one, as morning sickness usually goes away, and energy is good. I have found pregnancy so far to be not only very beautiful, but also a bit weird. Weird in a good way, but still a bit weird nonetheless. Your body goes through all these changes that you have never experienced before. Google and Wikipedia have become my constant companion for the last 3 months, as I am constantly typing in my symptoms to make sure that all is normal! Thank goodness for the internet these days, as it has been such a fountain of knowledge for me. I also have my 'go to' people, as I am constantly comparing notes with Linda. Even though she was pregnant a year ago, we are both surprised to find that alot of our symptoms have been amazingly similar. Especially in the food department. We have the same aversions when it comes to certain foods. This so far, is the only symptom that still lingers where I don't see an end to it. It's very strange for me to be eating meals and eating food, just to be eating it. But not actually enjoying it, which is very hard for me as I LOVE food. For Linda, she had this symptom all the way to her whole nine months of pregnancy. I hope mine doesn't last that long, but considering how lucky I have been so far with my other symptoms, I'll take it!

Tabitha is my other 'go to person', as I read her own baby blog religiously every day. Even though she is a couple of months ahead of me, I like to read back to when she was at the same stage as me and see her symptoms. She has had a wonderful pregnancy so far, and does not seem to have the same food aversions as me. But I know that every woman is different.

I am so looking forward to perhaps some strange food cravings, and 'popping out' even more. Although it may be premature, I have even started looking at baby clothes (both sexes) and CANNOT WAIT to start buying some onesies! I am so in love with our baby, and every day that goes by, it just gets stronger and stronger.

  1. Dear Wendy,
You have so much positive energy, I am sure baby is getting these amazing vibes! Now s/he is secured in a loving womb, when s/he comes out to this world, so much love from so many people will shower upon him/her...there is mom and dad (Jonas, has it sunk in yet that you will be dad soon?) and grandpa and grandma(s); aunts and uncles, and many more. That you love food but now have an aversion to food, so you eat because of baby...as mom, you would do anything in the world for the little one. Take care of yourself for the two of you. Do try to enjoy the "weird" pleasure of being pregnant as it is the most private time shared between mom and babe...Jonas can only watch:) Love from mom and dad...all the way from Toronto!

  2. I really hope you're one of the lucky ones where the second tri is smooth sailing! I think I had one good week in the entire 9 months...but that's just in my nature...I'm cursed with a sensitive stomach! I bet you'll start feeling better soon!

  4. Of course it's weird--you have a wee alien inside you! (OK--so I'm not sweet like Jonas's mom.) I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying all these new and amazing experiences. xo
