We woke up early on Sunday morning to the first bright spot of the day- the sun. Vancouver has had a pretty pitiful spring so far. Rain, rain and more rain. When will it ever end? It seems that we keep getting a bit of a tease with that big yellow ball in the sky. One day we see it, the next day we don't. Well this past Sunday, we saw it and I was not going to let an opportunity like this go by.
While Jonas was at work, Griffin and I set off on a stroller walk. We had no destination in mind, I just needed to get outside. The city streets of West Broadway was quiet, except for a few people grabbing coffee. I guess Vancouverites don't wake up before 10 on a Sunday morning, unless you are working or a parent. I was happy to walk the quiet streets alone with Griffin, and to smell freshly baked bread and coffee.
As we continued walking, I saw a big sign 'Farmer's Market' with a big arrow pointing in the direction. I had completely forgotten about the Kitsilano Farmer's Market, and that it was that time of year already. I was sold. We headed in that direction and Griffin attended his first Farmer's Market of the season. I have been waiting all season long to take him to one, and for me to go also. We took in the vendors, sampled foods and had a glorious time. Griffin was a big hit. Everybody that passed him was in love with him, and I can't help but feel proud to have such a cute little baby! Who incidentally, looks exactly like his father :) After we checked out the market, we headed over to the playground right behind it. Sunday must be dad's day because the playground was packed with kids, and a bunch of dads. We headed over to the swings, watched other toddlers playing in the sandbox, and soaked in the sun. On the way back through the market, I saw a food cart that was selling Korean beef short rib tacos, so I had to try one. Griffin and I ate our snacks together (his snack of a mum-mum) before I headed back home. A perfect Sunday morning, with a hint of summer in the air.
