It's been a long and exhausting week, particularly for poor Griffin. We just weathered his very first cold, which coincided with some very bad residual effects of his teething. Poor little guy seemed to have gotten hit with a lot of things this week. His top central incisor erupted last week, but the pain seems to be staying wit him. We took him to our doctor, and he said that although the tooth is erupted, some babies feel pain until the tooth has completely gone through. Then Griffin came down with his first cold. Yikes. This was a day that I was not looking forward to, but when you have a child, one that is not easily avoidable. This has made for some very sleepless nights this week, with a stuffed up little man that screamed bloody murder every time I tried to go near him with a tissue or aspirator.
And then because he picked last week to learn how to stand, we had to lower his crib asap. This change for him was not too popular, as he could feel that something was different with his bed. Thankfully, he appears to be used to it now, and it's a good thing that we lowered it too. Every morning, he is perched on his knees, waiting for us to get him. I am scared to think of what he would do if we didn't lower the crib on time.
All in all, a trying week. But on a good note, everytime we weather these storms, it only makes us stronger and better parents in the end. Everytime it seems like we can't overcome something, we always do and always will. This is what parenthood is all about anyways, isn't it?
