The Sound Of Music......

Baby and I have started a ritual of listening to music together at work. I use one ear bud, and place the other ear bud on my belly. Apparently, at 17 weeks, there is evidence that suggests the baby responds to music while in the womb. Poor thing is either going to love '80's music when they are older, or hate it! I have been on an '80's music kick for quite a while, and that is all I have been listening to.

Jonas and I have been waiting very patiently (or impatiently in my case) for us to feel the baby move or kick. Even though it is completely normal for most first time mothers to not even feel any movement until almost the 20th week of pregnancy, we are waiting with baited breath. Jonas and I are starting to wonder if perhaps we just have a very 'chilled' baby that is just nice and relaxed inside of me. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch, since both of us are pretty reserved people. But every night for several mins, both of us will place our hands on my belly and wait to see if we feel anything. And sometimes throughout the day, I will give it a little nudge or tap and say 'move for mommy!' No doubt that one day, our child is going to read this and laugh their head off at all the things we have said while they were in my womb.

  1. Yes, it would be quite a treat for your child to read the thoughts that went through your minds. If I have kept a diary of my pregnancy with Jonas and Cara, it would be amazing for them to read now!
80s' music...so who are your favourite singers?
    Love,
    Mom.

  3. You'll be happy to know that Felicia will quiet down if cranky whenever I sing "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone...the song I played over and over to her while in the womb...and I also sang it while in labour (the irony...)...her eyes light up and she relaxes imediately. So keep playing that music! And try and pick one song that will be especially hers...maybe some Cyndi Lauper or Debbie Gibson? Just kidding :)
