Our Little Crawler

Our world as we know it is about to change again. Griffin has been practicing his crawling skills for a while now. While it is not completely mastered yet, he has managed to figure out how to move forward, and was all too excited to demonstrate this for us last night. We couldn't figure out why he was so animated all day yesterday. He refused to take a nap (didn't seem fussy at all, so we ruled out teething), and his eyes were HUGE all day. It seemed like he kept trying to communicate to us with his eyes to tell us something. Every night before his bedtime, we have a routine of reading to him in our bed and playing with him in there for a while. While we were doing this last night, he rolled over onto his tummy and showed us how he crawls. He was VERY pleased with himself, which resulted in several awakenings during the night. Whenever a baby learns a new milestone, it is quite normal for them to have disturbed sleep patterns because they are so excited to learn something new.

I have been excited for this moment, yet somewhat not. My little baby is growing up! Even Jonas felt a twinge of sadness that pretty soon, Griffin is not going to want us to carry him around. True, my arms could use the break, but it looks like I will soon be chasing him all over the house and will be getting a different kind of exercise.

  1. Dear Wendy,
Can't wait to see the little crawler. Your diary really details each milestone so well. I wish I did the same with Jonas and Cara. They grew up so fast, in the blink of an eye. Still remember fondly how Jonas stood in the crib and waited for mommy to pick him up. Enjoy Griffin...he soon will be a big boy and then a big man, like his dad!
    Love,
    Mom.
