The Office

Today while Daddy did some last minute packing, I took Griffin in to my office to visit some work peeps. They all 'ooh'ed' and 'aah'ed' him. And they also made the two comments that we always hear from everybody, especially strangers, when we take him out. "He's so intense and focused!" And "What a quiet baby!" These comments always make me laugh, because he is anything but these things at home! It's not that I don't agree that he can't be this way. But at home, his attention is all over the place as he wants to see and touch everything. And once we left the office, he started babbling the entire way home in the car.

I can't believe that it took me 7 1/2 months before taking Griffin in. But I find that being a new parent, you tend to live in a bubble. And your previous life almost doesn't exist anymore, or it takes a temporary back seat. At least that's what my experience has been. But I feel like I am slowly starting to come out of this bubble, and really starting to feel like my old self again. It was good to go back to the office again and touch base. I thought it would feel weird, especially since I left so abrubtly back in September and hadn't been back. But when I opened the doors, it did feel like it was old times. It's nice to know that I have a place that is so comfortable for me to go back to when my maternity leave is over.
