7 Month Update

As Griffin grown and matures, so has his cheekiness. He is discovering how much fun it is to push mama's buttons. His new favorite thing......the dropping game. Yes, he loves to drop things and see if I will pick it up. Jonas does not give in to this game as quickly as I do. Yes, I admit, I always run to pick his teething ring, toys or whatever up as soon as he drops them.

The word 'no' has also been a big part of my vocabulary every day. "No Griffin, don't touch that", "no Griffin, don't go there", "no Griffin..no, no no!" A couple of times, he has actually looked at me from the corner of his eye when I said no, and proceeded doing it anyways. I know he is testing me, and while I find it amusing right now, I am sure that this won't be amusing down the road!

He is also the biggest squirmer, and will literally leap forward to try to grab what gets his attention. Right now, he is very obsessed with anything resembling a remote control or cell phone. I think the fact that we keep saying no to him about touching them, makes him even more curious about it.

It seems that he is really trying hard to talk and communicate with us too. We now hear a lot of consonants in his vocab, instead of just vowel sounds. Now there are a lot of 'ba ba's', and 'haaaa haaa's'. He actually tries to form his mouth into words too. I can't wait for the day where he can talk to us. I know he will come up with the cutest words.

He is definitely in the right family as he has an extreme love of food. One of my favorite things to do is puree all of his food and watch his reaction to trying it out. So far, he has loved everything. Mango's, avocado, sweet potato and spinach, carrots, bananas, green beans, green peas, apples, pear......sometimes he will eat at least 3 dishes of food. I love that he has a healthy appetite, but it makes me think that he will eat us out of house and home when he is older.

Griffin is in the throes of separation anxiety now. I can barely leave the room for a minute before he starts crying and calling out for me. Even though he has separation anxiety, he is also getting more comfortable with people. Ma-ma came last week for a very short, but sweet visit. Even though they have not seen each other since Christmas, he took to her right away. My main concern has always been that Griffin would be very shy around people, so I do hope he is outgrowing this.

We have not taken any video yet of Griffin crawling, or of him pulling himself up to a standing position. He is only in the very beginning stages of pulling himself up, but I would not be surprised if he starts to develop this very soon.

  1. Dear Wendy,
I love reading about Griffin, you and Jonas, the little family that grows...
I came across a card drawn by Jonas from his Agincourt Co-Op Nursery School days where he spent 2 and 1/2 hours in the morning. He drew a sun, a heart, some clouds, a rainbow, a flower, and I think a little figurine with a heart drawn on the body...that may be me. Wow, those were the days.
Thanks once again for sharing the life of your little familiy with me. Imagine how much fun when you share this blog with Griffin when he grows up.
I have enjoyed the visit tremendously too.
    Love,
    Mom.

  2. Oh, he and Arden share a love of cell phones and remote controls...how does Griffin feel about laptops? They're like the Holy Grail for Arden.

Good job on growing up, Griffin! He sounds like he's full of wonderful personality. I can't wait to meet him one day.

So glad you guys had a good visit with Pauline.

    xoxo
