A Fresh Start

I have just one word........RELIEF. Yes, RELIEF that our move is completed. I can't believe how much I hate moving (as if anybody actually enjoys it). But this one was a bit of a doozy, mostly because of the baby on hand. It was also a bit more stressful because the night before our move, Griffin's top two teeth decided to erupt, and I came down with my first cold in two years. But in the end, everything actually turned out alright.

I think Jonas may have gotten the short end of the stick on moving day. Griffin and I spent the entire day at Po-po's house, and it was completely relaxing. It was the first time I didn't have to try to pack in between his feedings, naps, and multi-tasking while entertaining him as well. And Griffin was loving it at Po-po's place too. There was much more open space for him to crawl around, as well as a big box of new toys for him to play with. But after five hours there and no nap, he decided it was time to go home.

Meanwhile, Jonas dealt with the movers on the other end. All I can say is MONEY WORTH SPENT. Seriously, it takes a small chunk out of your budget, but totally, completely worth it. No major moving catastrophes except that they crushed my dried wedding bouquet. When I returned home, I followed the trail of flower petals all the way to our new place and found my bouquet in a heap. I was sad for a minute, but realized that I was just so happy to be home!

I am just so relieved that this is done. We still have a mountain of boxes to get through, but we are basically set up with the important stuff. And I don't get that stressed out about unpacking. I figure it will come in time. And Griffin seems to like being here. He can crawl around more, his room is much less cluttered with useless furniture, and he can probably sense we are happier here too.

Unfortunately, when I booked the movers, I didn't realize it was Easter weekend. So Easter came and went for us. We didn't do any Easter activities, but we took Griffin out on Saturday afternoon to get him out of the house and enjoy the sunshine.

And now that this thorn is out of my side, I can devote the entire summer to just relaxing, enjoying the sunshine, and showing Griffin our favorite places and discovering new ones. We know that this is not our permanent place of residence, but it's home for a while.
