My days this week are a bit thrown off, with the Canada holiday yesterday. Thank goodness the weekend is here again, as I feel completely disoriented.
I had some good news and some not so good news the other day. The good news is that the test results came back from my gestational diabetes testing, and my sugar levels are all good. I was worried about this particular test because I felt like I had been eating a lot of sweets lately. So I celebrated by allowing myself to eat sweets again, in moderation of course. The sort of bad news is that my iron levels are really low, and my doctor advised that I take an iron supplement. This could explain the fatigue that I have been having lately, and lethargy. So I have been checking the internet today to see what rich iron foods I should be consuming, to increase my iron levels.
For Canada Day, we spent the day at Jericho Beach for our annual Canada Day Barbecue. This has become somewhat of a tradition that started about 4 or 5 summers ago with our team. The weather was iffy, but the rain held off. Ironically, even though it was cloudy and we were bundled up in blankets, we ended up staying there longer than we had any other year. We had steaks, sausages, fresh strawberries, tarts, cupcakes, sushi, corn and other assorted goodies. And then realizing that it was dinner time already, we fired up the barbecue again for more food. What could be a better way to spend the day than hanging out with good friends, on a beach with a barbecue and good conversation?
