Hot in the City

Summer has FINALLY decided to make an appearance on the West Coast. Temperatures this past week have been approximately 30 degrees celsius. Today, I woke up with swollen fingers and swollen feet. Thankfully, I am still able to wear normal shoes, but I did notice that they feel tighter than usual. And when I put my wedding rings on, I noticed instantly how tight they were and can definitely see how swollen my fingers became overnight. But despite the heat, I am holding up quite well. I am in my air-conditioned office for about 8 hours of the day, and our apartment is surprisingly comfortable, temperature wise. In fact, our apartment is cooler this summer than any other summer that we have lived there. But I think that is because we finally realized that if we turned our blinds the other way, they would trap the sunlight out and cool the rooms down.

Yesterday, I had to go out and buy more clothes for my ever-expanding belly. And to accomodate this hot weather we have been having. Seeing all these cute girls out in their bikinis and little shorts and tank tops has made me a bit wistful, and I hope that I will be able to get back into my regular clothes before next summer. But until then, I know that I am not the only person feeling this way. I have started noticing a multitude of pregnant women everywhere I go, about as far along as I am. And it makes me wonder if there is going to be a surgence of babies being born in the fall!
