We sat with him in the pool for a bit to get him comfortable. Then we played ball with him in the water, rolling it back and forth (playing ball is his new favorite thing). Then Jonas walked through the water with him, and eventually, he sat inside of a little floaty. I think to Griffin, it was like a huge bathtub. Luckily for us, Griffin loves taking baths.
Seeing Griffin's interest in the pool, and having him in the water was something Jonas and I talked about long ago. It was really almost a dream come true for us. This was something we have always wanted to do with our baby. And it makes my heart soar that Griffin did not seem to show any fear of the water that I possess. Because ironically, I am TERRIFED of swimming. I do not know how to swim at all. And it's ironic because I love a lot of things associated with the water. I love the ocean, I love the beach, I love water sports, I love being in the water.......I just cannot get myself to actually lift my feet off the ground and float. So I was as thrilled for me as I was for my son that we were able to be in the water together. I took video and for some reason, it didn't record which absolutely devastated me when I found out. But at least I managed a few pics.
So much fun...enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLook at him!! He's so, so cute and I'm glad he loved it. I can't believe I didn't know you don't swim. You are so brave to dragon boat in light of that. We aren't far from you guys at present...just a province away. Next summer we'll have to plan a jaunt to Vancouver once we've come this far. xxoo
