Child Proof

This week, we (or should I say Jonas) had the task of child-proofing our home. We tried to put it off for as long as we could, but it was time. Griffin discovered how to open the kitchen cupboards this past week. It was a bit of a juggling act for me in the kitchen. I literally had to do the dishes with one leg only, while the other leg was stretched across, holding the kitchen cupboard in place while Griffin tried to open them. We also bought some door stops, because Griffin just can't get enough of closing the bathroom door in our faces.

In other news this week, Griffin seems extraordinarily happy. Not sure if it is just the mood he is in this week, or if he is more relaxed. He seems to constantly hear music in his head or something, and bops his head to some tune that we can't hear. He has also been super affectionate, and very, very smiley. We can't seem to get enough of it, or him. We have become one of those parents, the kind that still talk about their baby long after he has gone to bed. We review his antics of the day, talk about past antics, and sometimes, we even look at his baby pictures on the computer. Even though we have just spent the entire day with him, and put him to bed less than an hour earlier.

And, this week, he actually stood by himself for about 5 seconds! This happened yesterday at the play group. He was hanging onto my shoulders and then let go. I looked over, and he was standing there, by himself with no props and arms outstretched for about five seconds. Amidst all the chaos and noise at the play group, the moment came and went so quickly that I wasn't even sure it happened. I couldn't wait to tell Jonas about it afterward. I'm sure now that he has done it once, he will try to start practicing it more and more. It seems he tries to do it at home already, as he always stands against the couch or coffee table with his arms outstretched.

He has also learned how to climb up onto our couch and slither his way back off of it. It's so cute to see his little legs trying to reach the couch, and we usually have to give his bum a boost. Sometimes I seriously wonder how much cuter this little tiger can get?

  2. Just this week, Arden has begun to practice her standing incessantly. Griffin is a brilliant guy.

I also love reading all about his little personality. And I would stare at his pictures on the computer, too. He is too, too, too cute.
