Yesterday was your 4 week old birthday. The last four weeks of our lives have been crazy, chaotic, beautiful, and fulfilling. We have learned a lot about ourselves during this brief time, and about you. We discovered that people can run on empty if they have to. And we learned to be completely selfless. It is more important to feed you before feeding ourselves. No matter how tired we are, we spring into action to soothe your discomfort and cries. Taking a 'rest' or nap whenever we feel like it no longer happens. And I always feel like I am racing against the clock. Whenever you have a nap, I try to get a million things done during this time, as I know I have a very small window to do them in. This includes updating my blog.
You are starting to trust us now, and you recognize who your mama and papa are. You smile easily at us, and we can now stare deeply into your eyes and have staring contests. You love cuddle time in the morning. In fact, this has become a daily ritual of ours. When we wake up, I feed you, bathe you, change you. Then it's cuddling time in bed where we try to take an extra nap, with you nestled either on my chest, or sleeping in the bed next to me in the crook of my arm.
You are very verbal about your likes and dislikes. If you don't like something, you are not shy about letting us know by showing us with the distasteful expression on your face, or by swatting something away. When you like something, you have a very serene, orgasmic expression on your face.
Yes, we are still getting to know each other and although it is not a huge progression, we do see some things getting easier. I think this is what they mean by 'baby steps'. It is hard to believe we have managed to survive the last four weeks. We have spoken of this day since you were born, as we were really struggling in the beginning. But every single day, you have captured our hearts more and more and we could not be more in love with you.

EEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Keep these pictures coming. He is the cutest little guy in the world. We love him! We're both sitting here going, "AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW."
