Normalcy

I have been trying desparately to restore some normalcy back into our lives since the birth of Griffin. A couple of days ago, I went to the gym for a bit of a workout, despite my doctor's orders not to. Then yesterday, Jonas and I took Griffin to his first visit to Granville Island. Unfortunately, Griffin likes to sleep during the day so he couldn't really enjoy the scenery. But he was a perfect angel.

We spent three hours there, walking around and enjoying our day. What surprised us the most was how many women we saw that were pregnant, and tons of parents. Everywhere we looked, we saw strollers. We also saw several first time parents like us, taking their newborns out for the day. Seems like we all must have had the same idea in mind when we decided to go there.

After our blissful three hour stroll, we decided to get some fresh seafood to nurse my craving. I had been abstaining from a lot of seafood for most of my pregnancy, and I was finally ready to give in to it. We bought some fresh mussels and manilla clams. So that evening, I made some steamed mussels and clams in a white wine and shallot sauce, french bread and corn on the cob. It was nice to be able to come home and enjoy a meal like that again, as we used to before baby.

  1. mmmm...those clams sound delicious! And yippee! You're still cooking :). It's not so bad when the husband is around :)
