Happy Hallowe'en

And so this is your second Hallowe'en with us, and I think it somehow was not meant to be again. Last year, you were just a wee babe, so we didn't get to truly celebrate the holiday with you. You had a banana costume, but you were reluctant to wear it.

This year, I had two sick boys at home. You and Daddy. I had all sorts of Hallowe'en activities and outings to take you to, but it was just not meant to be. Good part is, you are still too young to feel like you are missing out on the event. It would have crushed me into a million pieces if you actually knew it was Hallowe'en, and knew you had to miss out due to your sickness.

So we made the most of it at home. Surprisingly, your cold did not last long at all (touch wood). And you were in fairly decent spirits. Before the weekend, I went out and bought you some new activity books so we could play. That is your newest hobby. Coloring, drawing, and scribbling on paper. You also love stickers and sticking them on your new art projects. This hobby has become so much fun for all of us, that I will be looking into some age-appropriate art classes for you in the winter, once your music class ends.

It shocks me to see the things you play with now. The fact that we can color together (although yours is more of a scribble) is fascinating. I see you maturing quite rapidly. And now that I am back at work, I really notice it even more. You are becoming calmer and more settled about things (at least in my prescence, and although probably short-lived as I know by now that kids go through phases all the time, and it won't be long before the next 'phase' kicks in). And biggest news of all, at thirteen and a half months, you are taking STEPS. Yes, STEPS as in plural! You started taking three steps last week. I won't say you are actually walking yet, but you are very well on your way.
