Since you have turned eleven months old, all of a sudden, you seem so much OLDER to us. It is showing in everything you do. Your antics, expressions and personality in general are taking on a much more mature appearance. When I take you to our play groups, you are no longer interested in the ‘baby’ section with the activity tables. You have replaced this with crawling and climbing over things, and moving over to the ‘toddler’ area to try out new toys. Crawling and climbing are a big thing of yours lately. You absolutely love to climb and climb anything and everything that you can. And we are so astonished to watch you play with your toys now, as you seem so much more INTENSE about figuring out how to play them. You used to just grab your toys and throw them around, or put them in your mouth. Of course you still do this, but you are actually discovering how to put shapes in their proper places, and dropping balls in their proper slots.
And in your appearance, you no longer look like a baby. You seem very much a little boy to us now. We never used to be able to imagine how you would look walking or talking. But now, we can very easily visualize this as both seem right around the corner. You hang onto our every word and watch us intently, as if you are studying us for your own purpose. We honestly feel that you understand quite a bit of what we are talking about sometimes. And you seem as though you can’t wait to express yourself in words either. Right now, you grunt a lot, but I think that is your form of talking.
A new thing you have learned is how to wave. You do this sometimes with one arm, or occasionally with both. We sit at the window sometimes and wave to things. I will say ‘Griffin, wave at the bus!’ Or ‘wave at the red car’, ‘wave at the lady walking by’ and sure enough, you will wave.
You also love to point with your index finger. I’m not sure what this means, but you use this finger to point at things a lot. You also love to touch index fingers with us, as if it is a special code between us.
You also love to share things wit us. Sometimes, you hold your bottle out to us, or little bits of food for us to take a bite of. You are quite a sharing little boy!
Your first birthday is right around the corner, and already you have matured so much in a very short time. This so far is my favourite period of time with you. I loved you as a baby, but I especially love you at this age now. You are so much fun and interactive. And your antics keep us in stitches. We can’t imagine you being more adorable than you already are, but you always manage to. We love you to bits, our little boy!
What a sweetheart he is! I love the new car seat, but I love the boy in it most of all. He is the best. Kisses to Griffin and hugs to you and Jonas! Hopefully this goes through...Blogger has given me endless problems as I've tried to comment several times over the last couple of weeks without avail. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteHooray! I finally googled the problem and at last I can comment on your blog again. He's grown so much, Wendy. SO, so, so very handsome. xoxo
ReplyDelete...just wondering when Griffin will read these wonderful descriptions of him growing and how lovingly you and Jonas had raised him, and imagine sometime in the future, you would compare him with your grandson/granddaughter, as I do now from time to time. How much do I wish to record all these important moments of Jonas' life. Well, what do I remember, that he was forever curious about all the knobs of the stereo system, and how he spitted water he held in his mouth onto Uncle Bill when he was held upside down. Recently we were still talking about this when I had dinner at Elizabeth and Digby's house with Bill and Anne in attendance. Wow, they grow up so fast, and Jonas is now going to be 31 years old on Sept. 10 and Griffin will be one year old, a day earlier than his dad. Have a lot of fun with this little family of yours.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Mom.
