Everyday, you are becoming a TON of fun. I am maximizing my time with you on the weekends, and it is very difficult coming to work on Monday's. I hate leaving you, especially after all the time we get to spend together. But I am always reassured by the memories of past weekends, and that you will have more fun with Daddy during the week.
I don't know what happened, but in the span of a week, you have started walking almost everywhere! I remember coming home from work one day, and I couldn't believe how much you were on your feet. And it was really evident this past weekend. You are exploring things on a whole new level now. And you are deriving immense pleasure from it. In fact, you can't seem to stop smiling or humming to yourself when you walk. Sometimes you walk on your own. And other times, you like to take my hand and have me walk with you. I never thought such a simple action as walking with you hand in hand could bring so much joy to my heart. These are the kinds of days that I longed for with you, and dreamed about. Even going to the same ordinary places, such as the library, has a new perspective for you now, as you get to see things you couldn't see before. And surely, this newfound independance is giving you a sense of confidence.
I am really soaking up this time with you. You are jabbering away at a rapid pace. It sounds like jibberish to a lot of people, but I know you are actually saying words and trying to communicate. Sometimes I can makes sense of your words. And other times, I'm not sure what you mean. I am just astounded every day by how much you are learning, and how quickly!
And you are starting to mimic and 'pretend' play too. Yesterday, I had Jamie Oliver on for a few minutes, and you re-enacted a cooking station. You had some pails that you spread out on top of a box, and pretended to be pouring from your milk bottle. All alongside Jamie Oliver. Sometimes, I wonder if you are going to become a great chef. You do have a very large curiousity with seeing me cook in the kitchen, or playing with toy kitchens at the play groups.
You are also fascinated by the rain. You love to see it fall from the inside of our house, and you love to hear the pitter patter of it. In fact, yesterday morning was the first time you have really, truly listened to rain. You woke up at 5:30, and the house was eerily quiet. I brought you back to bed with me, and together, we listened to the rain drops beating off our window sill. You loved it, and thought it was like music.
When Daddy came home, I told him about all of our times together and things I have noticed. He seemed impressed by all of the details I have noted. I guess when I am away from you for so many hours of the day, I do tend to pick up on things more. All I know is it's a truly wonderful period of time with you. We are just loving this age, and love seeing you grow and thrive.
